Welcome to LUU Mind Matters’ website! This website aims to give students information about the society, let them know how to get involved, and share blog posts about mental health. It houses our comprehensive Leeds-based mental health signposting hub underneath ‘mental health resources’.

Our goals:

Mind Matters Society is a group of people with the aim of promoting mental wellbeing on campus and in the local community, as well as supporting those directly affected by mental health problems. We liaise with local organisations to create a wider network of support and volunteering opportunities.

We aim to tackle stigma and stereotypes associated with mental illness, highlighting the prevalence of mental health problems in people from all walks of life. We aim to reinforce that experiencing such problems is not something to be embarrassed or ashamed of. We encourage students to think about mental health, and discuss them in a friendly atmosphere.

We will create a space where it is possible to discuss personal experiences of mental health in an empathetic and non-judgemental environment, with people who can relate in a meaningful way, in a system of support separate from any formal mental health service.
